RESPONSIBILITIES
•Hours: Monday-Friday, 2-6 p.m.
•Facilitate literacy activities with four groups of 15-20 students each.
•Lead elementary students in fun language arts experiences by adapting the STAR IQ-Go! curriculum to the students’ interests and skills.
•Help with homework.
•Improve your teaching practice through trainings & observations.

QUALIFICATIONS
•Experience working with large groups of children
•Effective classroom management skills
•Punctuality and reliability
•Experience with language arts (preferred)

Currently hiring at schools in Santa Monica, and near LAX. Other locations throughout LAUSD may become available soon.

Fun-Loving Science Instructor/Admin Position

FUN-LOVING AND CHARISMATIC SCIENCE Instructor/ Admin Assistant Wanted!

JOB DESCRIPTION
Do you like working with children? Are you energetic and fun-loving? Do you enjoy science? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, STAR Education may be the opportunity for you! We are looking for a Science Substitute/Admin Assistant to teach and prep for the upcoming semester. 20 hours/week; M-F; 1:00pm-5:00pm $15/hr and $30/hr. $15/hour admin and $30/hour substitute teaching. JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work with students grades K- 8. Previous teaching experience required and/or previous experience with children. BA/BS degree/degree in progress in one of the following preferred subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Anthropology or Physics. Must be enthusiastic, responsible, flexible, and enjoy working with kids! Must have reliable transportation and be able to commit until the end of current semester. The office is located in Culver City. Schools are located throughout Los Angeles County including: West LA, South Bay, Pasadena and the San Fernando Valley.

Computers Teacher

Do you enjoy working with children?

STAR Education, one of the leading non-profits in after-school education is looking for good teachers who are able to share their love of computers with kids. We need someone who has a passion for computers and wants to share that passion with children!

The job is 4-5 hours a day generally between the hours of 2 - 6 for 5 days a week. You will mostly be teaching children how to be familiar with using a computer and also how to use various software applications.

All candidates MUST have experience working with groups of children be it as: a teacher, camp counselor, group tutor…

Applicants will be required to take a TB test and be fingerprinted upon hiring.

Teach Games to Kids

How would you like to teach games to kids?
Do you like video games or tradable card games?
Do you enjoy working with children?

STAR, Inc. one of the leading non-profits in after-school education is looking for teachers who are able to teach a Trading Card Game and/or Video Game class. If you are fun, enthusiastic and have experience working with children and like gaming, we want you to apply!

We need individuals who are able to work in the afternoons generally between the hours of 1 - 6 at different schools around the LA Area. Positions are available for up to 5 days a week but also for just 1 or 2 days a week.

The position’s responsibilities include transport of instructional materials (to and from our main office in Culver City), traveling to a school site, setting up the class and instructing groups of Elementary (5-11 yrs) aged children. All classes have an established curriculum that’s easy to follow and fun to teach. Pay is $30/hr for 2 hours of instruction. Game and Classroom training are provided.

Preferred candidates have work experience (which should be reflected on their resume) working with groups of children in a professional manner, be it as a: teacher, camp counselor, group tutor, volunteer… After that a love and knowledge of games is a HUGE plus.

Upon hiring, you will be required to take a TB test and background check.
